Spring and Summer 2009
During the past half year, Matt was primarily dedicated to
creating and producing music and sound design for Human World
Wide, at its New York City offices. At the end of the summer,
Matt moved to Los Angeles to work with Human World Wide and a
wide range of music and sound design projects at their Santa
Monica office and studio.
Prior to leaving New York, Matt continued to work with Red Bull
on a series of music and video projects. He also created and
produced music and sound design for creative content for the
website
College Humor.
Matt also produced CDs for the performing artist M.C. Kabir and
the Brooklyn-based band Your Youth.
Winter
2009
Working in conjunction with SoPo Productions, Matt
continued with production and creative projects with the
music-based education curriculum firm Rhythm, Rhyme, Results,
focusing on music modules for both Economics and Climate
education. He also continued to provide a range of special
event based production services for Red Bull, Inc. and
creative and production services for the Hot Coffee Show,
the internet-based comedy improvisation show.
Matt also composed original music that was used by Contract
Magazine in their annual awards show, and provided original
music and arrangements for student performing arts groups at
Columbia University in New York City.
Most recently, Matt has entered into a collaboration with
Human Worldwide, a leading music and sound design firm with
offices in New York City, Los Angeles and Paris. Human
Worldwide focuses on providing high quality and innovative
music and sound solutions for radio and television commercials,
as well as television programming and films. The company
provides its creative and production services to clients that
are leaders in worldwide multi-media advertising and
programming.
Fall 2008
In the fall of 2008, working with SoPo Productions of New York
City, Matt originated, produced and provided creative input to a
unique and highly entertaining two hour musical show combining
the extraordinary, innovative and complementary talents of the
Boston-based singer Mieka Pauley and the rising
Sybarite Chamber Players of New York City.
Offering a unique mix of soul/blues/rock/acoustic dimensions,
Mieka Pauley is a graduate of Harvard College and has won
numerous awards and competitions including: the Telluride
Bluegrass Festival Competition, the Starbucks Emerging
Artist Competition and the 2008 New York Songwriters
Circle Contest. Mieka both tours on her own and has also
performed in major venues in shows featuring leading artists
such as Eric Clapton, The Black Eyed Peas and John Hiatt.
The Sybarite Chamber Players are based in Manhattan and offer a
versatile and innovative approach to string and chamber music.
They have performed at many leading venues, such as The Aspen
Music Festival, the Time Warner Music Center and
Lincoln Center in New York City. As a string ensemble, they
have performed with leading artistic groups such as The
Metropolitan Opera of New York City and the Cleveland
Orchestra.
Also during the Fall of 2008, Matt provided production and
creative services to Jo Potter, the Miami-based singer
and songwriter and the Hot Coffee Show, a New York City
based improvisation comedy ensemble offering insightful and
comedic real-time commentary and song on the events of our
times. Episodes of the Hot Coffee Show, such as
the very funny “We’re Under Attack” can be found on the
internet at

In addition, Matt continued to provide production and creative
services to Red Bull, Inc. and the educational firm,
Rhythm, Rhyme, Results.
Summer 2008
During the Summer of 2008, Matt served as the producer,
engineer and keyboard and guitar performer for the
emerging hip hop/rap/soul artist MC Kabir and his
forthcoming album “The Time is Now”. Matt
also wrote an art song…based on the text of Sonnet VIII
by William Shakespeare…for Ann Moss, a San
Francisco-based soprano.
In addition, Matt completed the music composition
program at the Summer Arts Program at the
California State University
at Fresno,
CA. and provided a management team at Facebook, Inc.
with an original music program. Matt also
continued to perform with musical groups in live shows
throughout New England,
including Irish singer and songwriter Christian
McNeill and singer and songwriter Heather
Ogilvy.
Matt also continued his collaboration with Sopo,
by creating remixes of numerous songs and creating a
Sopo DJ program for a performance at Hong Kong, the
popular dance club at the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market
in Boston.
Most recently, Matt has been selected by Red Bull,
Inc. to direct and produce video and music projects,
for both internal use at Red Bull, Inc., as well
as for innovative content for the company’s extensive
internet viral marketing strategy.
Spring 2008
O’Malley Music Productions
was selected for several original music and sonic
branding projects, including: music for a multi-media
advertising and promotional campaign for The Boston Public Library, a musical score for a
technical and educational video for medical device maker
Conformis, Inc. and an original film score for “Once
Upon a Time in Brooklyn”, a short film by Dominique DeLeon.
Matt also collaborated with Robbie Mitchell of
Rhythm, Rhyme, Results to create Sopo, a creative,
production and performance team focused on music/DJ
performances for dance clubs and night clubs. Sopo
launched its efforts with a series of productions at The Queen’s Head Pub, the new student entertainment
center at Harvard University, where Matt also
performed with other popular music bands, including Teen Plant.
Winter 2008
Matt continued his creative, production and performance
work with the music-based educational company Rhythm,
Rhyme, Results and wrote and produced original music
for the Boston-based alternative rock band Teen Plant.
Fall
2007
Matt was selected as the producer of
and piano performer for the debut album “Santa JG Swings”
( www.meathmedia.com),
featuring John Meath, long time Boston-based producer of
children’s television programming such as “Where in the
World is Carmen San Diego”. John recently performed songs
from the CD with the Beantown Swing Orchestra.
Matt also joined with an additional
music ensemble, Teen Plant, which performed in a November
residency at the Cambridge, MA art space The Lilly Pad.
The group developed and performed an array of original,
experimental rock music, which will become the basis of a
full album to be released in the Winter of 2007/2008.
Additionally, Matt expanded his
production activities with Rhythm, Rhyme, Results, which
has been developing an even more creative and robust
curriculum as it prepares for product distribution.
Summer 2007
During the Summer of 2007, Matt
continued with his production and performance work for
Rhythm, Rhyme, Results, which is developing a novel,
music- based full academic curriculum to be offered to
inner city youths.
Matt also performed on keyboard and
guitar and vocals with a number of music groups at venues
in Boston, including Felt-Boston, as well as at music
festivals throughout New England.
Spring 2007
Matthew
has continued to work on music production projects for the
Cambridge, MA, hip-hop based educational company Rhythm
Rhyme Results, including a project in conjunction with the
American Audiology Association. In addition, Matt recorded
and mixed the album “Root and Branch”, an album of folk
music performed by The Goodhue Family.
Matt
also performed on the organ and recorded with the new
Boston-based blues/rock group The Jeff Colt Group and
continued to create and produce music and video content
for the group Hurra Kam Rada and HKR TV.
In June,
HKR’s “The Milkman” music video was selected as the 2007
Best Music Video (Non-professional) by The Alliance For
Community Media (www.acmhometown.org)
as part of its national “Hometown Video Awards 2007”
festival, celebrating creative programming presented on
community television throughout the United States.
Winter 2007
During
the Winter of 2007, Matt was involved in a wide range of
music projects…from creative, to performance, to
production…Including: The Harvard Jazz Band Reunion Show,
held at Sanders Theater at Harvard University; performance
and production of a video for the Martha Stewart Show;
Bandleader for The Bartlett Jazz Quartet, which includes
international jazz artists that perform at corporate
functions throughout the Boston area; and engineer and
mixer for a 10-track, music “Math” album by Rhythm Rhyme
Results, a company using hip hop music to enhance
educational techniques.
Matt
also continued his broad range of activities for the
music/theatrical group Hurra Kam Rada, including the
construction of the HKR website, the creation and
production of a number of music/podcast/video projects and
keyboard/laptop/vocal performances at several
entertainment venues in the Boston area. One of HKR’s
shows was featured on the new podcast “Boston
Underground”.
Also,
while not the eventual winner of Doritos’ ‘homegrown’
advertisement contest “Crash the Super Bowl”, Matt’s ad
submission was eventually featured on “The ABC World
Evening News” during a piece covering the highlights of
the contest.
Fall 2006
In
conjunction with Gagnon Productions, Matthew O’Malley has
created and produced the score to the thirty minute
documentary film “Thanksgiving”, commissioned by businessman
and philanthropist S. Daniel Abraham. The score consists
primarily of original music composed by Matthew O’Malley,
who performs his work on the piano, accompanied by violinist
John Hammond of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
In
addition, Matt O’Malley also created and produced a 30
second television commercial submitted as a candidate
advertisement for a Super Bowl contest being conducted by
Doritos called “Crash the Super Bowl”.
The
advertisement features original sound design and music by
Matt O’Malley and a cast of performers from the Boston band
Hurra Kam Rada. In the end, Matt’s advertisement finished
among the Top 10 vote-getting submissions, out of
approximately 1200 contestants.
Matt also
continued to perform as a piano soloist and with several
jazz and popular bands at private and public venues
throughout the Boston area.
Summer 2006
Matt
O’Malley has joined with the Boston band
Hurra Kam Rada as a
music and video producer and director, writer, arranger and
performer. “HKR”
plays
a blend of rock, jazz, R&B, experimental, funk and ambient and
can be found at

Matt also participated
with the local television production unit in Arlington, MA as
a co-director of the live production of that community’s “Town
Day 2006”, a two-day, nine hour, multi-venue,
eight-camera production covering an extensive array of
activities and events celebrating one of Massachusetts' most
historic towns.
Spring 2006
O’Malley
Music Productions has constructed its own sound/recording studio
in the Boston area. Studio resources included a full range of
recording, mixing, computer and software capabilities, allowing
it to work with both soloists and small ensembles on a
schedule-friendly basis.
In addition,
OMP has developed a strategic partnership with a local
television studio, allowing it to have generous and flexible
access to excellent physical and technical facilities for
music/visual/hybrid projects. Resources available at the studio
include, several video cameras [mini DV and SVHS] and related
video software, a full digital editing suite, sound mixers and
related software, digital photography equipment and software and
a large performance studio, equipped with a green screen.
Also, during
the spring, Matt O’Malley and friends performed their music at a
number of venues throughout the Boston area.
Winter 2006
Matthew O’Malley
has joined the
Manhattan Producers Alliance,
a New York City based collaborative of award-winning composers,
producers, sound designers and music supervisors. With studios
located at its convenient Midtown Manhattan location, The
Manhattan Producers Alliance offers clients in the film,
television, advertising and online worlds a unique source and
network for innovative music creation and production.
Fall 2005
Matt
O’Malley teamed up with Harvard roommate and singer/songwriter
Nick Diaco to produce Nick’s debut album/CD “Two Souls”. The CD
introduces Nick Diaco as a rising singer/songwriter, offering a
wide-ranging and refreshing set of twelve engaging and captivating
songs. “Two Souls’” can be found and enjoyed at Nick’s website (www.nickdiaco.com).
In addition to producing the album, Matt O’Malley was the arranger
and engineer and performed extensively as a multiple
instrumentalist, as well as back-up vocalist.
Summer 2005Matt O'Malley
will be performing in concert in his hometown of Topsfield, MA at
the end of June. Matt will be joined by several friends and
members of the Harvard Jazz Band for a fun and inspiring night of
jazz and musical variety.
